About
Anouk recently graduated from Exeter University where she studied English Literature and is currently living and working in London as a teaching assistant. Anouk grew up in a bilingual household and speaks French, and loves going to France (especially Paris) as much as possible. She's also a dance and theatre lover and enjoys watching and writing plays in her free time. Some of her favourite authors are the Bronte sisters, Sylvia Plath, Toni Morrison, Kate Atkinson, Margaret Atwood, Jane Austen, and Jessica Swale... She also loves making birthday cakes for friends, planning girls’ holidays to Europe and watching Gilmore Girls.
Her research in English Literature focuses on women writers and representations of the female body, primarily in 19th century literature. Her dissertation centred around women walking and female bodily autonomy in the Bronte novels, and she aims to take an interdisciplinary approach between literature, paintings, social history and film. She is interested in female tropes in literature and marginalised women’s stories, particularly as artists and/or muses.
